Medley Hall has several accommodation options. There are 57 student rooms at Medley Hall, which are suited to undergraduate students (some graduate rooms are available), and a further 18 rooms at Cydelia House for mature-aged and graduate students. All rooms are modern and well equipped.
Accommodation Options
Medley has two facilities for student accommodation. Medley Hall at 48 Drummond Street has 57 rooms and is particularly suitable for undergraduate students. There is also one self contained room with a bathroom that is fully-wheelchair accessible. Cydelia House, located at 101-103 Drummond Street has been designed for graduate and mature-age students and can house up to 18 residents.
At certain times of the year, rooms are available in Medley Hall and Cydelia House for short-term stays by visiting academics.

Medley Hall
Medley Hall has 57 rooms housed a grand Victorian mansion connected with a sustainably-designed modern building in Drummond Street in Carlton. Medley Hall is a just fifteen minutes walk to the University of Melbourne and opposite the beautiful Exhibition Gardens. It is also close to the city centre and bustling Lygon street.
Student Rooms
Every student room in Medley Hall is modern, bright, and well ventilated. All rooms are single occupancy (there are no shared rooms).
Each room contains:
- Long single bed (supply own linen, blankets and towels)
- Desk, pin board, chair and desk light
- Bookshelves
- Wardrobe
- Hydronic heating
- Double glazing
- Internet access
- Shared unisex bathrooms close to all bedrooms (one wheelchair accessible per floor) * and kitchenette on each floor
Guests
You are allowed to have a friend stay in your room for one night. Longer stays must be arranged through the College Office.
Room Rules
For environmental reasons, students are not permitted to have a fridge in their room. There are fridges as well as toasters, kettles, and microwaves available in the kitchenettes on each student floor.
Smoking is not allowed inside any building of Medley Hall. All rooms are fitted with smoke detectors wired to the central fire alarm. As part of our commitment to social and environmental sustainability we are very keen to assist smokers to quit and offer support to anyone attempting to do this.

Cydelia House (101-103 Drummond Street)
Cydelia House is a newly-opened (2018) facility of two Victorian terraces on Drummond Street. The houses were bought in 2013 and refurbished to the highest standard by the Cybec Foundation with the aim of providing accommodation for mature age and and graduate students. A total of 18 rooms are available at Cydelia House.
Facilities include:
- Modern, spacious kitchen with communal fridges, gas cooking and toasters microwaves. Breakfast provisions supplied
- Large common area with TV
- Spacious bedrooms with high ceilings, furnished with double bed, desk and desk light
- En suite bathrooms (some exceptions)*
- Four larger studio-style rooms with kitchenette and lounge area (generally reserved for tutors or senior students)
- Built in robes
- Large outdoor entertaining area
- Bike storage
- Hydronic heating
Fees for Cydelia House are the same as for Medley Hall and include all meals which are served at the Hall.
*Bathrooms are cleaned weekly by cleaning staff. Residents are expected to keep their own rooms clean and vacuum cleaners are available on each floor for this purpose.
